This is the densest lake district in our service area, and the ownership pattern is different from the rural end. Tubs go in as part of how the property is lived in, not as an occasional treat, and plenty of them run most nights of the year with several people in them.

That is exactly what a hot tub is for, and it also means the wear is real. Heavy use does not break things randomly. It works through the same chain in the same order, every time.

• The filter takes it first. More bathers, more load, a filter that stops flowing properly long before it looks dirty.
• Then the water chemistry. Sanitiser demand goes up with use, and water that is out of balance is quietly hard on everything downstream.
• Then flow. Restricted flow makes the heater short-cycle and throws the flow errors people call us about, and it is often a filter and a chemistry problem wearing a heater's clothing.
• Then the parts that cost money. Heater elements and pump seals are the end of that chain, not the start of it.

A flow error on a nightly-use tub in Commerce is a different problem from the same code on a lake house that has been shut for a month, and quoting a heater before establishing which one you have is how people end up paying for parts they did not need.
