First, whether it is actually a Jacuzzi

Jacuzzi is a real manufacturer and also the word almost everyone uses for any hot tub, the way people say Hoover for a vacuum. A good share of the calls we take about "a Jacuzzi" turn out to be a spa built by someone else entirely.

That is not pedantry, it changes the repair. Parts are ordered against the control pack, the pump and the heater specification, not the name on the cabinet, so identifying what you actually own is the first thing we do. On an unknown tub the pack label in the equipment bay usually settles it in under a minute.

Either way, the faults are the same short list

• No heat. Heater elements and high limits. The most common call in the trade, on every brand.
• Flow errors. A packed filter, an air lock after a refill, a tired circulation pump or a failed switch. Four causes, four prices, one code. See the error code index .
• Weak or dead jets. Usually flow, sometimes a pump, occasionally a blocked jet body.

Independent, and why that helps here

Dr. Spa has been independent since 2001. For a Jacuzzi brand owner that means we are not a single manufacturer's service arm, and for everyone who has a spa they have been calling a Jacuzzi for twenty years it means the badge does not decide whether we will take the job. Roughly two dozen brands come through in a normal year, including plenty whose dealers closed long ago.

Electrical work on a spa circuit is licensed work in Michigan and Dr. Spa does not do it. We diagnose everything on the spa side of the disconnect and tell you plainly whether the fault is in the tub or the circuit feeding it. When it is the circuit, you get exactly what to ask a licensed electrician for.

How the visit runs

Tell us the make, roughly how old it is, and what the panel is showing. A good share of the time we can tell you over the phone whether it is something you can fix yourself in ten minutes. If it needs a technician, the $185 service call covers the trip and the diagnosis, and you hear the actual fault and the cost before anything is replaced.
