A different arrangement from most spas

Bullfrog's defining feature is that the jets live in removable modules rather than being plumbed into the shell the way a conventional spa is. It is a genuinely good idea and it changes how a jet complaint should be diagnosed.

On a conventional tub, weak jets means flow: a filter, an air lock, or a pump. On a Bullfrog you have to establish first whether the problem is the whole tub or one module, because those are completely different repairs at completely different prices.

• Every jet weak, across the tub. Flow. Start with the filter, then water level, then the pump. Same as any brand.
• One pak weak, the rest fine. Points at that module or its connection, not at the pump. Replacing a pump here would be an expensive way to fix nothing.
• A pak that has been removed and refitted. Seating and seals are worth checking before anything else.

Underneath the jet arrangement, a Bullfrog has the same components as any other spa and fails in the same ways: heater elements, high-limit sensors, circulation and jet pumps, flow and pressure switches, control packs. Codes mean what they mean across brands, and the error code index covers them.

Independent, diagnosis first

Dr. Spa has been independent since 2001, which means no single manufacturer's parts channel and no pressure to sell you a tub instead of fixing one. The $185 service call covers the trip and the diagnosis, and you hear the fault and the price before anything is replaced.

Where we stop

Electrical work on a spa circuit is licensed work in Michigan and Dr. Spa does not do it. We diagnose everything on the spa side of the disconnect and tell you plainly whether the fault is in the tub or the circuit feeding it. When it is the circuit, you get exactly what to ask a licensed electrician for.

How the visit runs

Tell us the make, roughly how old it is, and what the panel is showing. A good share of the time we can tell you over the phone whether it is something you can fix yourself in ten minutes. If it needs a technician, the $185 service call covers the trip and the diagnosis, and you hear the actual fault and the cost before anything is replaced.
