Master Spas, serviced independently

Master Spas is a large range covering standard portable spas at one end and full swim spas at the other, and both show up across Livingston and Oakland County. Dr. Spa services them independently. We are not a dealer, we have no new inventory to move, and we have worked on all makes and models since 2001.

Swim spas are a different machine

This is the part worth spelling out, because it changes what a visit involves.

• More of everything. More pumps, longer plumbing runs, a much larger volume of water to heat, and a heating system sized accordingly.
• Often two zones. Many swim spas run a warm end and a cooler swim section, which frequently means two heaters and two control packs that have to stay in agreement.
• A propulsion system on top. Swim current hardware is its own subsystem with its own failure modes, and weak output has at least four plausible causes.

The practical consequence is that a swim spa call benefits more than most from a proper phone conversation first. Model, number of packs, which zone is misbehaving, and what the panel reads.

What we get called out for

• No heat, or one zone not heating. Elements, high limits, and on dual-pack systems the control side that sits behind them.
• Pump failures. Seals, bearings, motors that hum without starting, and wet ends damaged by running dry.
• Flow and pressure codes. Filters first, then the switches and circulation pumps behind them.
• Leaks. More plumbing means more joints, and on a larger vessel the source is worth finding properly before anything is replaced.

Access is a bigger deal on a large vessel

Swim spas are frequently built into a deck or a surround, and the equipment ends up in a bay or vault that is reachable from one side if you are lucky. Tell us where the access panel is and whether it opens without tools, because on a vessel this size that detail decides a great deal about the visit.

Where we stop

Electrical work on a spa circuit is licensed work in Michigan and Dr. Spa does not do it. We diagnose everything on the spa side of the disconnect and tell you plainly whether the fault is in the tub or the circuit feeding it. When it is the circuit, you get exactly what to ask a licensed electrician for.

How the visit runs

Tell us the make, roughly how old it is, and what the panel is showing. A good share of the time we can tell you over the phone whether it is something you can fix yourself in ten minutes. If it needs a technician, the $185 service call covers the trip and the diagnosis, and you hear the actual fault and the cost before anything is replaced.
